Whales Swimming Journey
Whales Swimming Academy Entebbe, began in 2017 with approximately 30 swimmers. The academy is a not-for-profit organization and one of the founding member of Uganda Swimming Federation. The academy has been operating in Entebbe community since its inception, and has seen over 200 swimmers of Entebbe community both children and adults go through its aquatic programs; swimming lessons and competitive swimming. In 2017 the academy first operated at Santa Maria Health club pool a 13m pool by then. But as the numbers grew and aspirations for participation in national and Uganda Swimming Federation club sanctioned events we moved tour current swimming locations which are standard 25m pool at Imperial Resort beach Hotel and Imperial Botanical beach Hotel. Whales Swimming Academy represents more than just a swimming academy; it represents a community where area residents from all Entebbe neighbourhoods have enjoyed having a swim team that represents a proud ENTEBBE history.
Our Objectives
- To promote water safety by teaching water skills to as many people as possible in the community to reduce drowning and water related incidences.
- To build confidence and inspiration in young swimmers by creating a fun and safe atmosphere.
- To achieve competitive excellence in the sports of swimming locally and internationally.
- To promote swimming sports so that more people and schools in our community learn about the sport.
- To provide equal opportunities whenever possible for successful participants irrespective of gender, ability or disability
We are committed to have an internationally recognized swimming program that teaches and trains all levels of swimmers, promoting water safety, and the pursuit of dream. Emphasizing individual progress, team unity and family participation. We aim at providing a safe nurturing environment where swimmers are not afraid to fall short of their short-term goals but to appreciate that it is where character is developed. While instilling in them the desire to pursue personal challenging goals; a long term drive for excellence in the individual.
To empower young people to be champions in and out of the water for a lifetime through the pursuit of goals.
